Downey Applauds New State Funding for Opioid Treatment

OCEAN TOWNSHIP - Assembly Human Services Chairwoman Joann Downey released the following statement lauding today’s announcement of over $1.6 million in County Innovation Grants to combat the opioid epidemic in New Jersey:

"If we want to help people recover from substance abuse disorders, we need to make sure that patients can find treatment and support on every step of the road to recovery. Peer support is so important to helping individuals become and remain sober, and I'm glad to see Monmouth County receiving more than $200,000 to personally engage and treat those struggling with an addiction. This funding will help us build a support and recovery network from the ground-up, empowering local communities in their efforts to help their neighbors access the treatment they need."
